MTBE Groundwater Plume Cleanup – Monterey County, California

mtbe

This Monterey County agricultural site had soil and groundwater petroleum hydrocarbon contamination from a former leaking UST. After characterizing the soil and groundwater impacts at site and resolving gross accessible soil contamination, EIS performed a corrective action plan to determine the most effective and reasonably priced remedial system for this site.

EIS designed and installed a groundwater remedial system for the contaminated area. The remedial system treated MTBE and TBA with a bio-reactor and BTEX with granular activated carbon. After the water was been treated, it was discharged under permit with the Regional Water Quality Control Board into an onsite injection well.

The system ultimately helped reduce contamination to meet regulatory action goals and the site achieved case closure status from the regulatory agency.
