MTBE Groundwater Plume Begins Cleanup

This Monterey County agricultural site has soil and groundwater petroleum hydrocarbon contamination from a former leaking UST. After characterizing the soil and groundwater impacts at site and resolving gross accessible soil contamination, EIS senior engineer performed a corrective action plan to determine the most effective and reasonably priced remedial system for this site.

EIS designed and installed a groundwater remedial system for the contaminated area. The remedial system treats MTBE and TBA with a bio-reactor and BTEX with granular activated carbon. After the water has been treated it is discharged under permit by the RWQCB into an onsite injection well.

The system is operating and reducing groundwater contamination at this site.
